Public Notice - Lafayette Office Closure

The Clerk of Court for the United States Bankruptcy Court of the Northern District of Indiana hereby provides public notice regarding the closing of its Lafayette clerk’s office, a sub-office of its Hammond Division. Effective May 31, 2024, the clerk’s office located at the Charles A. Halleck Federal Building, 230 N. Fourth Street, Lafayette, Indiana, is closed to the public. Cases from Lafayette will be heard in our Fort Wayne Division. Filings and payments may be made in any of our other Divisional Offices or by utilizing the Court’s electronic filing system. The clerk’s office will continue to assign Lafayette case numbers to new cases asserting venue in Lafayette (which consists of the following counties: Benton, Carroll, Jasper, Newton, Tippecanoe, Warren, and White).

Questions regarding case filings and all other inquiries should be directed to the clerk’s office at 574-968-2265. Clerk’s office staff are available telephonically Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET, with the ability to conduct in-person transactions from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET (Sound Bend and Fort Wayne) and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CT (Hammond).
