In an adversary proceeding, what is expected in an answer to a complaint?

Judge Singleton FAQ
Answer:

Consistent with the District Court's Local Rules, this Court requires a responding party answering a complaint to restate verbatim the allegations in the complaint. N.D. L.R. 10-1(a)(1) (requiring respondent to restate verbatim the paragraphs and the responses to that paragraph). If the responding party fails to restate the allegations, the Court will strike the pleading but permit an amended pleading to be filed.

Once counsel for the responding party enters its appearance, the Court encourages the plaintiff to send a text version of the complaint to the opposing party. The Word verson allows the respondent to draft rhe verbatim paragraphs more easily.
