United States Trustee

The Office of the United States trustee is the component agency of the United States Department of Justice which supervises the administration of chapter 7, 11, 12 and 13 bankruptcy cases and trustees pursuant to 28 U.S.C. 586(a)(3). The United States Trustee Program is responsible for monitoring the progress of bankruptcy cases and preventing fraud, dishonesty, and overreaching in the bankruptcy arena.

The country is divided into twenty-one administration regions, each of which is administered by a United States Trustee. Region 10 is comprised of the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana and the Central and Southern Districts of Illinois. The Office of the United States Trustee for the Northern District of Indiana is located in South Bend. This office services all divisions of the bankruptcy court for the Northern District of Indiana.
