Electronic Bankruptcy Noticing

The United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Indiana in conjunction with other U. S. Bankruptcy Courts and the Administrative Office of the U. S. Court, is pleased to announce Electronic Bankruptcy Noticing (EBN).

Internet E-Mail Noticing
Your organization may choose to receive bankruptcy notices (341's, Discharges, and Notice of Assets) through your Internet e-mail. EBN notices are delivered days faster than the U.S. Mail.  While participation in the EBN is free of charge, you will need to purchase software required to receive the bankruptcy notices electronically. The BNC can send PDF (Portable Document Format) file attachments by e-mail to users who have an account with an e-mail provider that has 'electronic delivery service notification' and have Adobe's free Acrobat Reader Version 4.0 or higher installed on their system.

E-mail recipients can select to receive one of the following options for PDF file attachments:

  • An e-mail that has a single PDF file attachment containing multiple notices.
  • A single e-mail for each notice, with one PDF file attachment per e-mail.
  • An e-mail that has multiple PDF file attachments (up to 25), each attachment containing one notice.

Fax Noticing
Receiving electronic noticing by fax is a method available for recipients who do not want to set up Internet e-mail accounts, but who want to eliminate slower noticing by U.S. mail. If a single notice exceeds 30 pages it will be mailed, not faxed. Confirmation of receipt will consist of a fax log acknowledging successful transmission.

A record confirming delivery of electronic notices is kept and, if receipt is not confirmed, notices will be printed and mailed the next day. If electronic delivery is unsuccessful three consecutive times, the service will be terminated and mailed copies will be sent.
